Levin Iglut Golden Crown, Lapland, Finland

Not all luxury is warm sunshine or bright, blue oceans; palm trees, or white powdery sands. Some hotels find magic and opulence in unexpected places. Golden Crown found them in the Lapland tundra, the sparsely populated, northernmost region of Finland. Its prized boutique hotel, Levin Iglut, is a highly exclusive retreat, famous for its stunning glass igloos. The remote getaway is situated 340 meters above a fell slope, affording stirring vistas of the surrounding arctic wilderness. However, its main draw is the celebrated Northern Lights that dance in the endless, clear sky, active on starlit nights from the end of August to the end of April. The hotel also exploits its coveted location by offering an array of intrepid activities and rare experiences, including snowshoe hikes, reindeer farm visits, and snowmobiling, as well as kick sled and husky safaris.
Igloos & The Northern Lights House
Golden Crown offers two separate accommodation experiences. The glass igloos are surprisingly spacious and well-equipped with a cozy, contemporary interior featuring a small kitchen, lavish bathroom, and a lounge area. Situated on a lofty slope, they offer astonishing views of the Arctic sky and Northern Lights through encompassing, fog-proof windows. The standard suite igloos have a private terrace and outdoor jacuzzi, claim the best views of the valley and accommodate a family of four. Superior and Prime Superior suites are half their size at 23 square meters yet showcase more lavish décor.

Alternatively, guests can stay in the Northern Lights House, an ideal honeymoon escape built partly underground. The unique Lapland suite welcomes you into a wilderness cabin atmosphere with pine-paneling and custom pin décor, as well as direct access to the private terrace. For the opposite experience, sleep in the Golden suite amidst a luscious, baroque style interior inspired by the Palace of Versailles. In the stylish 55 square meter living room, a panorama window provides unobstructed views of the Northern Lights. The house also features a sauna compartment with a wall-mounted refrigerator and an outdoor hot tub affording views of the wilderness.
For an especially intimate stay, Levin Iglut's charming Kota is a traditional Sami dwelling that can be rented as a special program number. The small, wooden abode is ideal for romantic evenings or private events, hosting a warm atmosphere and dining service from the hotel's nearby restaurant.

Utsu
Levin Iglut's Restaurant Utsu, a glass-roofed tower, stands on an elevated spot of the Levitunturi Utsuvaara. A sleek, modern design and central log fire complement the natural beauty beyond its lofty windows. The restaurant provides fine dining in Scandinavian style with a menu of clean flavors, local products, and pure ingredients. Breakfast at Utsu is included in your stay, serving a selection of cheese and cold cuts, muesli bar, berries, and freshly baked bread.
